Five people have been re-arrested and bailed on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of Callum Riley.

Callum, 17, of Heywood, was found injured in the garden of a house on Atholl Drive in Heywood during the early hours of 17 September 2022.

The teenager sadly died a short time later and a murder investigation was launched.

In a statement on Friday (10 March), a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: Five people - three males aged 17, 25 and 33 and two females aged 18 and 34 - re-arrested on 09/03/23 on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of 17-year-old Callum Riley in Heywood in September 2022 have been released on bail.

“Enquiries remain ongoing and any information should be reported to police.”

Callum’s mum, Tracy Marsland, said in a tribute after his death: “Callum was a strong and caring young man, loved so deeply by his family, friends and his girlfriend.

"His love for his mother and his brothers was immeasurable. A lovely lad, with a good heart, protective of his family and always the best of intentions. Stolen away from us far too young in life. He will be forever missed, and remembered with love. Life will never be the same again.”

A bleed control kit and memorial plaque were recently installed in Darnhill in Callum’s memory.
