Date published: 10 March 2023

The new Hollingworth Lake Animal Centre and the Woodlands Café are now open (Thursday 9 March).

The Hollingworth Lake Animal Centre is the new home of the Rochdale & District RSPCA, located in the former visitor centre, which has undergone extensive refurbishment and expansion.

The Hollingworth Lake Animal Centre is a state-of-the-art facility to house the many abused and abandoned domestic animals and wildlife casualties which are brought to the animal centre by RSPCA inspectors.

Visitors to the lake and to the animal centre will also enjoy accessible facilities, improved public toilet facilities, an upgraded reception and information area and a meeting room available for hire.

The Woodlands Café at the Lake is a large dog-friendly café, run by the team who also run the Woodlands Café at The Willows Dementia Hub.

It boasts a traditional café menu, with vegetarian and gluten-free options, plus a television screen displaying the animals available for adoption.

David Canavan, chair of trustees for the RSPCA's Rochdale branch, said: "We were very impressed with the café at the Willows, and are very confident they will offer an excellent café service.

"We're all up and running having completed the move, and are putting the final touches in place."
