Mia-Grace Walsh dances to top of leaderboard

Date published: 12 March 2023

Mia-Grace Walsh from Fabdance Centre danced her way to the top of the leaderboard at the Trophy Day Freestyle Dance competition in Wakefield last weekend (Sunday 5 March).

She placed first in her slowdance section and placed third in her freestyle disco section.

Mia, who is autistic and has sensory issues, hasn't been competing for very long. Due to the loud music associated with the dance world and Mia's sensory issues, it was uncertain if the sport would be suitable for her.

Her dance teacher and principal of Fabdance, Fiona Briddon, says she has taken to it "so well" and now loves competition life."

She added: "We never know what to expect, so to come away with first place, which also included losing a life, is a fantastic achievement."

Other Fabdancers also came away from the contest with impressive accolades: Isabella Cogan landed third place in her freestyle disco and sixth place in slowdance, and Lyla Briddon placed sixth in her freestyle disco and seventh her slowdance.
