Police were called to reports of an assault on Long Street
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted assault after an incident in Middleton.
Police were called to reports of an assault on Long Street at around 4am on Friday 3 March.
Officers attended and it was established that a woman had been assaulted and pushed down a staircase by a man, the assault then continued onto the street.
One man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of attempted assault and bailed pending further enquiries.
PC Gyves 19361 from GMP’s Rochdale district said: “We are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time.
“We believe that somebody may have shouted from across the street during the assault to try and stop it from continuing.
