HGV drivers Darren Hibbert & The Wanderers to climb Ben Nevis for Mind

Date published: 07 March 2023

A group of HGV drivers from P&H Haulage – on behalf of the JD Sports Distribution Centre at Kingsway, Rochdale – will be climbing Ben Nevis this summer for mental health charity Mind.

The group, nicknamed the ‘Wanderers’, will be led by Darren Hibbert climbing Scotland's highest peak on 13 and 14 June.

The Wanderers are made up of Chris Bullock, Dawn Cooney and her partner Stuart Noden, Ryan Parry, Ryan Randle and newcomers Steve Moore and Jim Derby.

The team previously climbed Snowdon in 2021 and Scafell Pike in 2022, raising over £1,000 each time.

Darren and the Wanderers hope to raise £1,000 for a third time.

Darren said: “We are now attempting our third ascent of Britain’s highest mountains in aid of Mind. Previous years have seen us scale the dizzying heights of Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

“Each time we aim to raise awareness and funds for Mind as they provide valuable support for men, women and children who so desperately need their help and our support. Each team member strives to reach their own personal goals in this team event; we all have our own reasons for this charity event and each member has some connection to someone who has had cause to call on Mind in some shape or form.

“We’re also doing Snowdon again in April so one of the team can spread her late father’s ashes, and Scafell Pike in May just because.”
