Traffic on the M62 was stopped shortly before 11am between J18 & J19
Sheep brought the M62 to a standstill between junctions 18 Simister Island and 19 Heywood earlier this morning (Thursday 2 February).
Traffic was stopped shortly before 11am due to “animals on the network” according to National Highways, with delays of 30 minutes and five miles of congestion in both directions.
A local resident said there were “sheep over the fence but only behind the motorway crash barrier” adding that they had reported the incident to Highways England.
The animals were moved after 10 minutes, with delays still expected.
