Hundreds expected at Family Celebration Day

Date published: 07 October 2008

Board members and staff at Rochdale Boroughwide Housing are preparing to welcome hundreds of tenants and residents from across town to their annual Celebration and Information Day this Saturday (11 October).

Circus skills, home repair workshops and cookery demonstrations are just some of the activities taking place at this family-friendly event that organisers are hoping will be even bigger and better than last year’s celebratory day, which attracted more than one hundred visitors.

Gareth Swarbrick, RBH’s Acting Managing Director said: “This is our annual event at which tenants and residents can both learn more about RBH and our services, and also have some fun with their families. The programme for the day has been designed by a tenants and resident steering group and should mean there is a range of activities to suit all tastes.”

The event will take place on Saturday 11 October at Rochdale Town Hall from 10am to 3pm.

Ian Agnew, RBH’s Chairman, commented: “The event is also a great opportunity for tenants and residents to meet members of the RBH team. I know that many of our Board members will be there on the day to meet as many of our customers as possible.”

Skylight Circus will be delivering an open 'have a go' Workshop on the day, giving people the opportunity to try their hand at juggling, unicylcing, tightrope walking and diabolo among other circus skills. TV chef, James Donnelly, will be tickling taste buds when he hosts a cookery demonstration that aims to promote the virtues of healthy eating.

Other activities include flower arranging, creativity workshops for children using recycled junk, face painting, a music workshop and a mobile play unit for the youngsters stationed outside the Town Hall. There will also be an auction of goods in aid of Springhill Hospice along with presentations for RBH’s Communities First and Good Neighbour awards.
