Teenager releases Christmas album to spread cheer this winter

Date published: 15 December 2022

A performer from Middleton's Popstars Academy has released his first-ever album which features renditions of his favourite Christmas songs.

Michael Ankers, 18, joined Middleton Popstars in September and has now released his debut album, 'Michael's Musical and Magical Christmas'.

The festive album features eight songs which are all renditions of Michael's favourite Christmas songs.

He said: “I’ve always liked Christmas music and with Covid being gone, I wanted to spread some Christmas cheer.

“I started posting on YouTube a few years ago and since then, I’ve joined the Middleton Popstars Academy where I do all kinds of performances.

He said: “My personal favourite is Happy Xmas (War Is Over), a lot of people have told me they really like.”

Michael, who is autistic, got into singing at the age of nine after joining his primary school choir and is currently in his final year at Oldham College where he’s studying performing arts.

He intends on singing and song writing for the rest of his life, even if it doesn’t bring him money or fame.

You can give the album a listen here on YouTube or on Soundcloud.
