Hopwood Hall College launches delivery of its first national apprenticeship

Date published: 24 November 2022

Hopwood Hall College and University Centre is throwing open its virtual doors as it prepares to welcome learners from across England.

After establishing its reputation for offering industry-standard training in Greater Manchester, the college will deliver its very first online apprenticeship pathway from February 2023.

The Level 3 Apprenticeship in Fire, Emergency and Security Systems has been hugely successful when being offered at the college’s renowned Technology Centre.

It is now being expanded to feature a new distance learning option that can be undertaken by anyone aged 19+ in England.

The course will comprise of all the elements that has made it so successful when delivered in person.

This includes teaching from expert tutors, gaining experience through strong ties to industry, and the promise of mastering cutting edge equipment and engineering techniques.

However, the training will largely take place digitally – in the process allowing talent from across the country to pursue this popular route while receiving on-the-job training at workplaces all over England.

The Level 3 Apprenticeship in Fire, Emergency and Security Systems will equip the engineers of tomorrow with the skills to detect intrusion, provide surveillance, monitor and control access to properties, detect fire and emergencies, and many complex aspects of installation.

Crista Wilkieson, director of apprenticeships at Hopwood Hall College and University Centre, said: “Our apprenticeship offering really is going from strength to strength and we’re constantly looking at innovative ways to allow more people to benefit from the expert training we provide.

“This new distance learning pathway will do just that as it equips apprentices from across the country with the life-changing skills to get ahead in their careers – no matter where they’re based in England.

“We’re absolutely delighted that apprentices from across the country will be able enjoy the same training that has already improved the prospects of so many people across Greater Manchester.”
