Norden schoolboys raise over £1,100 for Children in Need with 100 laps of Norden 'loop de loop'

Five schoolboys from Norden Community Primary School have raised over £1,100 for Children in Need after walking the Norden loop 100 times.

Last year, Mason Bradburn, Archie Brown and Harry Spencer completed 16 ‘Loop de Loops’ of Norden, raising over £1,300 for the BBC charity.

This year, the boys were joined by Max Gardner and Lucas Gerrard – and they upped the ante to 100 loops of Norden, from the corner of Keepers Drive and Shawfield Lane, up the public footpath into the fields and then back down to Keepers Drive.

 

 

The boys set off at 10.30am, pausing for a while at 11am at the Norden cenotaph to pay their respects and continued until they reached their 100 loops mark. Norden ward councillor Jim Gartside also joined them for one loop after leaving the cenotaph.

Archie’s mum, Corinne Brown, said: “Each loop we calculated on a phone app was 0.75 mile, so between them 75 miles they've walked.

“They smashed it; we’re all so proud of them.”

BBC Children in Need currently funds over 2,500 charities and projects across the UK, including in the Rochdale borough, supporting children and young people to thrive and be the best they can be.
