Jolly Josh launches festive fundraisers and Christmas fair

Date published: 11 November 2022

Festive fundraisers for the Castleton-based Jolly Josh Centre for children living with complex medical, physical, and learning needs will take place over the holiday season, including a festive floral afternoon tea, Jingle Bell Jumper Day, and Christmas fair.

The first event will be the Jolly Josh Christmas fair on Saturday 26 November, featuring craft and gift stalls and festive fundraising fun, along with Graham Poole Transport’s Santa Sleigh Truck.

Thanks to the team at Graham Poole Transport, whose annual Santa Sleigh deliveries around the borough have been a Christmas attraction for four years, the Jolly Josh Christmas Fair will be welcoming Father and Mother Christmas, along with their sleigh.

The Santa Sleigh truck, covered in festive lights will be taking pride of place outside the centre to spread Christmas cheer and welcome everyone to the Jolly Josh Christmas Fair.

Graham Poole, director of Graham Poole Transport said: "Driving our Christmas Truck around the borough is now a tradition and one that everyone enjoys.

“Jolly Josh is a wonderful charity that everyone here at Graham Poole Transport is keen to support so we are delighted to be able to bring Father and Mother Christmas and their amazing sleigh to the Jolly Josh Christmas Fair."

Graham added: "Throughout the year we do all we can to promote and support Jolly Josh, whether it be sponsoring events, fundraising or promoting their services, so we're looking forward to being a big part of the wonderful memories this Christmas Fair will create for visitors.

“We are all really looking forward to seeing all the little ones' faces on the day; it will be magical."

Centre manager, Sarah Ford said: “We are really looking forward to our first fair at the Centre, there will be some fabulous stalls, Father and Mother Christmas and of course, our own mascot Jolly Josh himself.

“It will be an opportunity for everyone in our community to have fun and raise funds for Jolly Josh and also an opportunity for our Jolly Josh families to enjoy a fully accessible day out.”

A tradititional afternoon tea with a Christmas twist will be held at the Norton Grange Hotel in Castleton on Thursday 8 December, all in aid of Jolly Josh.

Finally, the Jingle Bell Jumper Appeal is the perfect way for schools, nurseries, businesses, friends, and family to get festive, have fun and raise funds to give a special gift this Christmas, the gift of a child’s smile and their carer’s reassurance.

Getting involved is simple – choose a date, send out your invitations and contact Jolly Josh to book your visit from Jolly Josh himself! And on the day, dig out your jumpers, onesies, and t-shirts, get festive, have fun, and pop a donation in your Jolly Josh bucket!
