Brimrod Primary School staff, children and governors, local residents and the Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) came together to clear the alleyway
Brimrod Primary School staff, children and governors, local residents and the Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) came together on Saturday 15 October to clear the alleyway that runs along the side of the school grounds.
This alleyway is used by parents and children from the school and is the access route into the Key Stage 1 playground at the rear of the school
It posed a health and safety risk as well as being unsightly and was strewn with rubbish and larger abandoned items.
The school had been in contact with Rochdale Environmental Services and the local councillors but were not able to access any support so took matters into their own hands.
A grandparent of children who attend Brimrod Primary School put them in touch with REAG and together a plan was put in place.
Headteacher Mrs. L Thompson commented: “It was amazing to see so many parts of the community working together to achieve something that benefits us all.
“Thank you so much to those who volunteered their time. The children and their families really appreciate it.”
