Local fashionistas will be missing out if they don't make their way to Urbis this weekend for the final two days of the Manchester in Fashion show - billed as the ultimate fashion and shopping event.
What’s hot next season? Rochdale Online's reporter joined the guests who sat back and were dazzled by an exclusive look into winter’s biggest trends during a stunning catwalk show showcasing fabulous collections following key trends to inspire autumn/winter's wardrobe.
Key Trends On The Catwalk
- The strongest trend of the Autumn/Winter 08 season, as seen on the International catwalk, includes, folk boho, embroidery, prints, and fur trims to give a wearable trend for casual wear.
- Gothic black is given a soft edge with layers of chiffon on lace, mixed with leather and satin.
- Country tweeds are brought up to date, tartan and check giving a fashionable twist to the look.
- Power dressing sees high waisted wide leg trousers, fitted shirting, masculine ties and beautiful tailoring back on trend with killer heels and pencil skirts adding a seductive silhouette.
Bourjois Celebrity Make-up artist Cassie Lomas created the catwalk make-up.
Beyond the catwalk, the programme included unique talks in partnership with Manchester Fashion Network. Featuring some of the biggest names in fashion – including Wayne Hemingway, David Mallon (The General Store), Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Manchester Arndale and an exclusive career retrospective from Wayne Hemingway; David Mallon (The General Store) and Roger Wade (Boxfresh) going head-to-head in Manchester Fashion Network’s marketing debate.
For those who love fashion, the 'Love Fashion' talks included tips on this season’s best buys; the city’s best fashion boutiques; a trend presentation on what every man must wear; lessons on customising your clothes from Rags to Bitches and a style-your-own-accessories session courtesy of Manchester Craft Mafia.
The launch event saw stars turn out in force, including Coronation Street's Vicky Binns and Hollyoaks' Carley Stenson. Stars from the Living on the Edge TV show joined the glamorous former Miss Manchester Louise Cliffe.
Manchester in Fashion continues at Urbis until Sunday 5 October.
