Shock phone caller pleads for remand
Date published: 03 October 2008
A man arrested in Rochdale who ordered a young boy to put on his mother’s underwear after he claimed he had abducted her, has pleaded with a judge to be kept in custody.
Ian Parry, 48, of Bacup, terrified the 16-year-old boy after he warned him he had his mother gagged and tied to a bed.
The factory worker persuaded the boy to pose with her underwear on in front of a window at his home, Burnley Crown Court heard.
Parry was snared by police in Rochdale in 2007 after a year long campaign in which he made more than a hundred nuisance calls from phone boxes around Lancashire and Greater Manchester.
He was due to be sentenced but the case ran out of time. He will reappear for sentencing on 9 October.
Parry has pleaded guilty to all charges and has asked Judge Simon Newell to keep him remanded in custody until he is sentenced.
