Public consultation 'expected later this year' for Warwick Mill

Date published: 27 September 2022

A public consultation on plans for Warwick Mill will take place later this year.

The prominent Grade-II listed mill and adjacent London House have lain vacant for a number of years, but owners, Kam Lei Fong Ltd, are progressing with plans to breathe new life into the mill.

Plans are being developed in conjunction with Rochdale Council planning and heritage officers, and Historic England, to convert the mill to apartments and ground floor commercial space, with landscaped grounds.

The derelict London House will be demolished to make way for new development.

The 60m redevelopment will play their part in the wider regeneration of Middleton, with the council about to embark on consultation on its Middleton town centre masterplan.

Public consultation on the Warwick Mill proposals is planned for later this year so the owners can explain the plans in more detail and seek public feedback. A planning application will be submitted shortly after.

A spokesman for Kam Lei Fong commented: “Warwick Mill represents a fantastic opportunity to create a high-quality development that can bring investment, new homes and opportunities to Middleton.

“We are grateful for the support and collaboration the council and consultees have offered, and are confident that we have a scheme that can play a key role in the regeneration and future growth of the town.

“This is an important part of the levelling up agenda in Greater Manchester and bringing development and opportunity to those important towns that support the city core.”
