GCSE results 2022: St Cuthbert's celebrate best-ever grades

St. Cuthbert's students and staff yesterday (Thursday 25 August) celebrated the school's best-ever GCSE results since the introduction of the 9-1 grades.

Student Hannah Burston, who achieved grade 8 and 9s across the board and who progresses on to Rochdale Sixth Form to study biology. chemistry and maths, said: "I am so grateful for all of the help and support that my teachers have given me throughout my time here. They helped me to believe in myself and my ability. I will forever look back on my time at St. Cuthbert's happily."

Jake Fairbrother, who also achieved outstanding results, said: "The tenacity and dedication of the teachers at St. Cuthbert's has been a great source of motivation that has encouraged me to reciprocate their efforts."

Jake is going onto Rochdale Sixth Form to study maths, further maths and business.

Headteacher Dave Shields said: "Congratulations to the class of 2022 on their outstanding GCSE results. We are extremely proud of the incredible resilience that they have demonstrated during the most challenging of circumstances.

"They have achieved a record-breaking number of grades 7-9 and the highest number of passes at grade 4 and above across all subjects in the school's history.

"We are also grateful to our dedicated teachers and staff, parents and carers who have supported our young people in being the best that they can be."
