Grand reopening of Coffee @ the Craven

Date published: 24 August 2022

The Springhill Hospice tearoom Coffee @ the Craven reopened on 15 August, after two years of closure.

Members of the community, loyal customers, trustees of Springhill and Mayor Ali Ahmed were in attendance for a morning in celebration of all the hard work that has gone into the establishment, to get it back up and running after two years of closure.

The tearoom and coffee shop originally opened in December 2014 to help raise funds for the hospice, but closed in March 2020 as it was no longer generating income for the hospice, which requires £3.2million a year – or £8,928 every day – to remain open.

With a delectable array of cake samples on offer, prosecco on arrival, and the unveiling of the new Coffee @ the Craven branding, the day was a huge success and enjoyed by all.

Liz Broadhurst, the new manager, said: “We worked extremely hard to get Coffee @ the Craven back open and turn it into a place that people love to pop in and say hello.

“We’ve been very busy with visits from new customers and previous regulars alike all coming down to support us, which is just amazing. The grand reopening was so busy; it’s been wonderful to see how much this place was missed by the community.”

Coffee @ the Craven is open Monday to Saturday (10am-3pm) with a delicious variety of sandwiches and cakes available daily.
