Car flipped onto roof in Heywood collision

A car flipped onto its roof during a collision in Heywood on Tuesday morning (23 August).

The collision between two cars occurred at around 11am on the junction of Bamford Road and Starkey Street.

The North West Ambulance Service confirmed no-one was taken to hospital.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A fire engine from Heywood fire Station attended the incident which involved two cars colliding, leaving one on its roof. Firefighters spent 15 minutes at the scene, making it safe.

“Two casualties were assessed by North West Ambulance Service at the scene.”

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police added: “Officers were called to Bamford Road in Heywood at 10.48am on Tuesday 23 August 2022, following reports of a road traffic accident between two vehicles, with one landing on its roof.

“The fire brigade and North-West Ambulance Service attended on scene. Occupants of both vehicles sustained minor injuries.

“Bamford Road was temporarily blocked while both vehicles were recovered.”
