Women and children escape Heywood house fire
Date published: 01 October 2008
A woman and two children managed to escape a house fire in Heywood before the blaze completely destroyed the living room.
The blaze began when a burning candle caught fire to furniture in the room.
Heywood firefighters were at the scene on Lochinver Grove in Darnhill at around 8.45 last night (Tuesday 30 September) to find the woman and children in an emotional state as they watched the fire devastate their home.
The fire crews found the lounge and kitchen of the semi-detached house ablaze before they were able to put out the fire using two hoses. Four members of the crew had to use breathing apparatus while a fan was used to remove smoke from the property.
