A 13-year-old schoolgirl is fundraising for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to carry out conservation work in Borneo.
Chloe Duffy, who attends Kingsway Park High School, has been given the chance to visit the South East Asian island with school expedition provider Camps International in 2024.
Once there, Chloe will help local communities build shelters and help update the local school, as well as helping conservation of orangutans with a five-day trek through the jungle.
However, the ambitious teen needs to raise £4,580 for the trip. Her first fundraising event will be a walk from Blackpool to Mayfield Rugby Club on 19 August with her parents.
Chloe’s mum, Danielle, said: “Chloe has been given this amazing opportunity to go to Borneo so we will be holding a few fundraising events. Chloe is very keen to help bring education to the children of Borneo especially maths, her favourite subject!
“Chloe is autistic and this whole experience is something completely out of her comfort zone but she's so enthusiastic about the whole experience. We just want to help make her dream come true.”
Donations to help Chloe’s dream come true can be made via JustGiving.
