Rochdale Mind's community garden spruced up with help of Dunelm

Date published: 20 July 2022

Rochdale Mind’s community garden has received a summer spruce up, thanks to the team from the local Dunelm store.

The homewares retailer, based at St Mary's Gate and Whitworth Road, has donated a gardening kit and accessories to help makeover Mind’s existing garden, which is used by members of the local community.

The team at Mind Rochdale deliver vital ecotherapy services from the garden, which provides a safe space for encouraging all-important conversations around mental health.

Local Dunelm store colleagues were on hand to help with the garden tidy-up, donating their time to help make the space a calming area for Rochdale residents.

The collaboration is part of Dunelm’s ongoing partnership with mental health charity Mind. The two organisations have worked together since 2021 to raise awareness and reduce the stigma often associated with mental health.

Lynsey Cassidy, Dunelm Rochdale Store Manager, said: “We’re thrilled to have helped transform Mind in Rochdale’s outdoor space.

“Gardens are great for our mental wellbeing and for bringing people together so we’re both excited and committed to making this one the best it can be with the help of our wonderful, hands-on store colleagues.”

Alison Connolly from Mind in Rochdale added: “We are so pleased with what Dunelm have done with the space.

“We know first-hand just how important the refresh will be for the local community who will massively benefit from the garden revamp and we're so excited that Dunelm have worked their magic.”
