Sports retailer Footasylum donates to Rochdale Community Warehouse

Date published: 11 July 2022

Over 500 people have benefitted from the latest donation made to the Rochdale Community Warehouse from Footasylum.

The sports retailer made a donation to the community warehouse to help families and individuals who are struggling at the moment with the cost-of-living crisis.

Many groups from the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise communities have helped facilitate the donation being distributed to those in the borough who really needed the support.

This donation has gone to many different groups including women who have fled domestic violence, families who have no extra cash to treat their children, homeless individuals, asylum seekers and refugees, families from Ukraine who have been posted to Rochdale and one family whose house had burnt down, to name just a few.

One recipient, Frank, 82, was overjoyed with his new coat and trainers. He has never owned a pair of Nike trainers, but was grateful for the donation. Keen to show off his new clothing to say ‘thank you’ to Footasylum, Frank says his trainers are the best he has ever had.

Julie Durrant, who manages the warehouse for Action Together, said: “We could not be more grateful to Footasylum for this latest donation. The items have been so gratefully received and every donation passed on comes with a very inspirational and heart-warming story. Frank is just one of them.”
