Headteacher tackles knife wielding youth
Date published: 30 September 2008
A Headteacher protected her pupils from a youth who threatened them with a knife on a bus yesterday afternoon (Monday 28 September).
The youth has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon after pulling out a knife on a bus outside Middleton Technology School.
The 17-year old offender ran down Oldham Road with the knife in his hand and was followed by the school's headteacher Allison Crompton before he got on the bus. Mrs Crompton ordered the youth off the bus after he waved the knife at distressed pupils.
The teenager was later charged with affray, possession of an offensive weapon and breaching an anti-social behaviour order.
A 16-year-old boy was injured during the incident, but his injuries are not said to be life-threatening.
