Rising musical theatre star, 9, lands two professional roles in a year as she realises her dream

A nine-year old girl from Rochdale is realising her musical theatre dream, after landed two professional roles in a year.

Elouise Blore made her professional debut as young Éponine in Les Misérables in January, and has most recently been cast in Identical, a new musical based on The Parent Trap, which opens this summer at the Lowry.

The St John Thornham pupil landed her debut role as young Éponine after three rounds of auditions last year with hundreds of little girls auditioning for the part. She performed to an audience of over 2,000 each night in Liverpool.

Elouise has been taking musical theatre classes at Footlights Failsworth for two years and has danced at Carnaby School of Dance for seven years. She has also been working towards her graded exams, receiving a distinction in ballet and tap, and a distinction in musical theatre.

Her mum, Gemma Hughes, said: “We are so proud of her achievements; all the hard work and dedication she puts into training is inspiring at such a young age.

“The school has been so supportive in her journey and encourage her to always be herself; we can't thank them enough for encouraging her to follow her dreams.

“We are so proud of her landing the [Éponine] role, we didn't expect anything from the audition, but admired her dedication and drive towards the whole process. We couldn't believe it when she got a recall and then to be cast in the role was unbelievable.

“She was going to school all day and then performing in Liverpool in the evenings and took it all in her stride. Each day, she was beaming with joy and happiness as were we.

“To be in one professional show is amazing but to be cast in her second in a year! We have no words to describe how happy she makes us.”

Gemma added: “Elouise has always loved performing for friends and family in the living room. We took her to see Annie at the theatre when she was four, and from there, she said she wanted to be on stage and make people smile.”

Elouise has previously performed twice with the Oldham pantomime and performed at Smalley Hall, Thornham, for their June Jubilee celebrations. She has also performed with the Footlights competition team many times.
