Police investigating an attack in Middleton appeal to witnesses, as suspect remains in custody

Police in Middleton are appealing for witnesses to an attack in Alkrington Woods on Friday (17 June).
Police received a report that a male had been attacked by another male in Alkrington Woods at around 9.30pm.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested and remains in police custody for questioning.
Detective Sergeant Tim O’Callaghan said: “Though a male is in custody, our investigation is far from over.
“Enquiries have so far led us to believe that there were two young people in the area at the time of the incident – we believe they are approximately 14-years-old.
“I appeal directly to those witnesses or anyone else with information to contact us or Crimestoppers.”
