Rochdale man charged with 17 counts of sexual offences following police investigation into historic offences

Two men have been charged with historic sex offences
A Rochdale man has been charged with 17 offences following a police investigation into historic sex offences in the area.
Ajaz Ahmed, 53, has been charged with four counts of rape; two counts of aiding or abetting rape; two counts of assault by penetration; six counts of sexual activity with a child; making an indecent image; assault occasioning ABH and possessing extreme pornography.
He appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on 9 June 2022 and has been released on bail to appear at Minshull Street Crown Court on 14 July 2022.
Richard Moore, 60, of Hemel Hempstead, has been charged with rape and will be at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on 5 July 2022. He has been released under investigation.
The allegations relate to incidents in the early 2000s with the investigation carried out as part of Operation Blencathra, by an dedicated investigation team in Rochdale.
