Man receives serious leg injuries after Whitworth collision

A man in his 60s has received serious leg injuries after a collision in Whitworth on Tuesday evening (7 June).

Police were called to Market Street at 8.45pm following a collision involving two vehicles; one of the vehicles then struck a pedestrian, leaving him injured. A section of the road between Tong Lane and The Ashcroft was closed for a short time before reopening.

The man has suffered a number of injuries to his leg.

Police are appealing for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage as they work to establish the circumstances of the collision.

Sergeant David Hurst of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations said: “This collision has left a man with some very serious injuries. We are working to establish the full circumstances of what led to the collision, and I would ask anybody who could assist to contact police as soon as possible.”
