Poems, prayers and artwork on display to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Date published: 04 June 2022

Local schools have created poems, prayers and artwork to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Little Heaton CofE and St Andrew's CofE Primary School along with Broadfield Primary School sent in entries to Rochdale SACRE (Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education) which have now been developed into a display.

The display – and other Jubilee related items – are on display at touchstones until 12 June.

Some of the children’s original artwork has been displayed in the Exchange shopping centre.

Reverend Margaret Smith, chair of Rochdale SACRE, said: “SACRE want to thank all took part and everyone involved in these displays especially Jennifer Vickers from YourTrust.”

Jubilee celebrates 70 years,
United Kingdom holds the celebrations.
Before the queen reigned, her father was king.
Invites to her jubilee are sent far and wide.
Lots of soldiers, horses and musicians take part in the trooping of the colour.
England's longest ruling monarch is Queen Elizabeth II.
Events happen throughout the year.

The Queen isn't mean
and she loves baked beans.
She is also very good because she eats healthy greens.
Her life is like a dream.
She's so amazing her smile can beam you away.
We love you Queen.

70 years you have ruled.

- Henry, Yr 5, Little Heaton CofE Primary

Jesus Christ Our Lord, we ask of you only to bless Queen Elizabeth II with patience, health and happiness. She is loyal to all and her kindness is ever-showing. Amen.

- Lola, Yr 3, St Andrew's Primary
