Mexico arrest for wanted sex offender
Date published: 29 September 2008
A man who was once one of Britain's most wanted criminals is thought to have been arrested in Mexico.
Former Littleborough fireman Andrew Eden vanished after he was released from prison in 2003. He had been serving a six year sentence for molesting a child.
The hunt to track down Eden has continued since he was placed on the sex offenders' register but failed to notify police of his address.
Eden's last known address was at Whitelees Road in Littleborough. He appears as one of the most wanted offenders on the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, which is powered by Crimestoppers.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a 48-year old man wanted for failing to comply with notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, was arrested in Mexico earlier this month.
