Talented trampolinists from Whitworth Community High School won the gold and silver team titles in a district competition.
The competition was open to high schools across Rossendale and was held in the movement hall at The Valley Leadership Academy in Stacksteads and five of the team members also scored the most points.
The school’s Gold Team of Year 11s Ellie Kenyon, Molly Brooks, Ashleigh Turner and Jessica Bagshaw won gold with Ellie scoring the highest individual points and Molly second.
The Silver team of Year 9s Louise Journeaux and Millie Nuttall and Year 7 Poppy Griffiths also took the trophy and individually Louise was first, Millie second and Poppy third.
The students practised regularly at school ahead of the competition and were delighted to score so highly.
Louise said: “We all had to perform the same routine and I assumed I had done well and then then I got the highest score, with Millie next then Poppy.”
Poppy said: “It was a bit scary, but we had done lots of practise in school beforehand. I was very surprised that I came third.”
The school’s second silver team of Year 9 Rosie Griffiths, Year 8 Lyla Briddon and Year 7 Zara Leech got third place in the team competition.
Students Jacob Hall, Chloe Walker and Elise Thompson also competed.
