Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To provide a safe and convenient place to park away team supporter coaches on match days at the Crown Oil Arena.

Expected start and finish: This order will be implemented on match and event days at the Crown Oil Arena, as required. The times of the road closures and restrictions will vary, however, appropriate signage will be put in place.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary one-way working on Ings Lane in a northerly direction along the westerly carriageway, from its junction with Edenfield Road to its junction with Rooley Moor Road. Vehicles won't be able to travel along Ings Lane in a southerly direction from its junction with Rooley Moor Road to its junction with Edenfield Road.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning right from Lisbon Street onto Ings Lane.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning right from Great Flatt onto Ings Lane.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning left from Innes Close onto Ings Lane.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning right from Cutgate Road onto Ings Lane.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from travelling along Wilbutts Lane, from its junction with Sandy Lane to its junction with Churchill Street.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from travelling along Phoenix Street, from its junction with the easterly side of Ings Lane for a distance of 10 metres in an easterly direction.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from waiting at any time on Ings Lane, both sides from its junction with Rooley Moor Road to its junction with Edenfield Road. 

Alternative route:

  • The alternative route for vehicles along Wilbutts Lane is Sandy Lane, Edenfield Road and Churchill Street.
  • The alternative route for vehicles along Phoenix Street is Churchill Street and Rooley Moor Road.
  • The alternative route for vehicles along Ings Lane (southbound) is Ings lane (northbound), Caldershaw Road and Edenfield Road (A680).

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 November 2021 – Tuesday 23 August 2022.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles, from a point 305 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 330 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles and pedestrians from a point 485 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 364 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary suspension of parking at any time along Dell Road from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 297 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be Market Street, Shawclough Road and Dell Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair an electric mains supply box in the footway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 9 May 2022 – Tuesday 17 May 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure for vehicles travelling along Ansdell Road, from a point 33 metres from its junction with Buxton Crescent for a distance of 17 metres in a north easterly direction.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be Buxton Crescent and Ansdell Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to replace a waste water manhole in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 9pm – 11pm, Monday 9 May 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure for vehicles travelling along Oldham Road in a northerly direction from its junction with Queensway to a point 30 metres in a northerly direction. Vehicles travelling in a southerly direction will not be affected.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is Kingsway, Milnrow Road and Oldham Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to reset a water fire hydrant chamber and valve lid in the carriageway.
Expected start and finish: 8am, Saturday 21 May 2022 – 6pm, Sunday 22 May 2022.
Restriction and location: prohibition of right or left turns from Albert Royds Street into Roch Street.
Alternative routes:

  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling in a north westerly direction on Albert Royds Street into Roch Street will be Albert Royds Street, Halifax Road and Cook Street.
  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling in a south westerly direction on Albert Royds Street into Roch Street will be Albert Royds Street, Reservoir Street, Belfield Road, Entwisle Road, Halifax Road and Cook Street.

Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: to replace gas mains and other associated works.

Expected start and finish: Wednesday 4 May 2022 – Wednesday 13 July 2022.
Restriction and location: the prohibition of vehicles from travelling along Boardman Lane, from its junction with Hilton Walk to its junction with Ellis Lane, and Ellis Lane for its entire length
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is Boardman Lane, Manchester Old Road (A576) and Heywood Old Road (A6045).

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: to repair high voltage cables in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 12 April 2022 – Tuesday 3 May 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Duke Street, from a point 54 metres north of its junction with Bury Street for a distance of 67 metres in a northerly direction.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is Duke Street, Bury Street and Albert Street.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Heywood
Reason: to facilitate the safe holding of the Tour de Manc cycling event.

Expected start and finish: 10am - 6pm, Sunday 1 May 2022.
Restriction and location:

  • One-way working in a southerly direction along Ashworth Road, so vehicles will not be permitted to travel along Ashworth Road in a northerly direction from it junction with Bury and Rochdale Old Road to its junction with Edenfield Road.
  • Prohibit vehicles from turning right onto Ashworth Road from Bury and Rochdale Road, Chapel Lane and School Lane.
  • Prohibit vehicles from turning left onto Ashworth Road from Bury and Rochdale Old Road.

Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be Bury and Rochdale Old Road, Norden Road, Bagslate Moor Road, Moorland Avenue, Edenfield Road and Ashworth Road.

Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Pennines
Reason: to provide access for heavy equipment and machinery.

Expected start and finish: 8am – 6pm each day, Tuesday 19 April 2022 – Friday 29 April 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary prohibition of waiting at any time along:

  • Both sides of Riverstone Bridge, for its entire length.
  • Both sides of Railway Street, from its junction with Peel Street for the remainder of its length in a south westerly direction.

Alternative routes: not applicable.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Pennines
Reason: to replace manhole frames and covers in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am – 4.30pm, Friday 29 April 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Cedar Lane, from its junction with Laburnum Lane to its junction with Granville Court.
Alternative routes: the temporary route for vehicles will be Newhey Road, Bentgate Street and Sycamore Avenue.
