Tidy Business Standards Clean Up At Great George Street
Date published: 26 September 2008
Rochdale Council and Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale are working in partnership, urging businesses to support a community clean up around Great George Street (behined Drake Street) on Thursday 2 October as part of the Tidy Business Standards award scheme.
On the back of previous successes on Milkstone Road, the Tidy Business standards project has been extended and will now be focusing on the area around Drake Street.
Emma Inott, Senior Environmental Business Advisor, Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale, said: “This is once again a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to work in partnership with the community and generate positive relations. A combination of organisations, and the community, working together co-operatively to address the problem of litter, will have a far greater chance of making an impact on the area.
“Tidy Business Standards recognises business for their part in trying to regenerate the area in a positive manner. Working towards a cleaner, greener and safer community requires the support of everyone including business, the council and the public. If we all take responsibility together, we can create a win-win situation that is equally beneficial to all. The company wins, the community wins, and the environment wins too!
"Keeping Rochdale clean and tidy is important to everyone that lives, works and visits the area."
Tidy Business Standards is an initiative to encourage businesses to reduce litter and have a good system in place for waste management. There is an additional focus on showing support to the local community.
