Rochdale Riverside
The award-winning retail development Rochdale Riverside is marking two successful years since it opened in April 2020.
Anchored by M&S, it comprises a mix of popular high street retailers, including River Island, Next, H&M, Superdrug, JD Sports, The Works and Boots, as well as leisure operators like Reel Cinema, Puttstars mini golf, Bean Coffee, Greggs, Crust Pizza and Heavenly Desserts plus an independent menswear store, DCM.
America’s favourite coffee and baked goods chain Dunkin’ Donuts came to Rochdale in October, one of just 16 branches in the UK, joined by popular restaurant chain Nando’s, fashion retailer New Look and one of seven Loaded Burgers locations.
Rachel Byrne, Riverside’s manager, said: “We’re delighted to celebrate two years of Rochdale Riverside and the centre’s birthday week coincides with Rochdale BID’s popular Artisan Market. So, as always, there’ll be lots to see, do and eat.
“Rochdale Riverside opened in the spring of 2020 and - two years on - the centre has been so well received by Rochdale residents and visitors that we have more to celebrate than ever.
“Despite the challenges of the pandemic, we’ve seen footfall continue to climb and we welcomed almost a million shoppers last year. It will only get better, with more units expected to open later this year.
“On the centre’s second birthday, we’re thrilled to celebrate its phenomenal success over the last two years, and we’re looking forward to many, many more years of growth to come.”
Named commercial development of the year at the Insider North West Property Awards in October 2021, Riverside was created as part of the wider £400m regeneration of Rochdale town centre, delivered by Rochdale Development Agency (RDA), on behalf of the council.
