A 12-hour Northern Soul music event will be held at the Hoochi Koochi bar, Rochdale, over the Easter weekend to raise money for Ukraine.

Starting at 3pm on Sunday 17 April, the South Parade bar will play a full 12-hours of the best Northern Soul music to raise funds for the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

The night is being held in association with Exit 21 Soul Club, Rochdale Soul and Motown Club, East Lancs Soul Club and Wakefield Soul Club as part of Hoochi Koochi’s ‘Sunday Soul Club’.

Soul for Ukraine will feature original 7” vinyl discs from DJs Steven Henderson, Mark Sharrocks, David Sulcas, Steven Andrew, Tony Poff, Stuart Hutchinson, Alexis Vanlee, Marco Arreghini, Mike Eastwood, Wigan Brian and Paul Rowan.

Owners Jon Riley and John McFarland said they decided to host the night after members of the Sunday Soul Club and DJs who are ex-military or serving asked about organising a fundraiser.

They said: “We don’t charge for Sunday Soul so we’ve kept the fundraiser free with the option for donations on the door with no demand for a set price.

“This conflict in Ukraine affects all of us and it could happen to any nation. We can’t do anything to help, but we can send funds to help with medical supplies and recovery once this is over.

“We can do a little to help.”

Entry is free (18+) and donations are welcome on the door.
