Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 November 2021 –  Tuesday 23 August 2022.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles, from a point 305 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 330 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles and pedestrians from a point 485 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 364 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary suspension of parking at any time along Dell Road from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 297 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be Market Street, Shawclough Road and Dell Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair a damaged water valve in the footway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 4 April 2022 – Monday 25 April 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Kew Road, for its entire length.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is Mornington Road, Great Gates Road and Balderstone Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair an electric mains supply box in the footway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 9 May 2022 – Tuesday 17 May 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure for vehicles travelling along Ansdell Road, from a point 33 metres from its junction with Buxton Crescent for a distance of 17 metres in a north easterly direction.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be Buxton Crescent and Ansdell Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to replace a waste water manhole in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 9pm – 11pm, Monday 9 May 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure for vehicles travelling along Oldham Road in a northerly direction from its junction with Queensway to a point 30 metres in a northerly direction. Vehicles travelling in a southerly direction will not be affected.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is Kingsway, Milnrow Road and Oldham Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to reset a water fire hydrant chamber and valve lid in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Saturday 21 May 2022 – 6pm, Sunday 22 May 2022.
Restriction and location: prohibition of right or left turns from Albert Royds Street into Roch Street.
Alternative routes:

  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling in a north westerly direction on Albert Royds Street into Roch Street will be Albert Royds Street, Halifax Road and Cook Street.
  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling in a south westerly direction on Albert Royds Street into Roch Street will be Albert Royds Street, Reservoir Street, Belfield Road, Entwisle Road, Halifax Road and Cook Street.

Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: to fix high voltage cables in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Thursday 31 March 2022 – Thursday 21 April 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Townley Street, from its junction with Taylor Street to its junction with Langton Street.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be Townley Street, Oldham Road, Manchester New Road, Rochdale Road, Victoria Avenue East, Greengate and Grimshaw Lane.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Middleton
Reason: to carry out tests on the carriageway and prohibit parking to provide safe, unobstructed access for vehicles past the work areas.

Expected start and finish: Monday 11 April 2022 – Friday 22 April 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary prohibition of waiting at any time along the south side of Mount Road in the following areas:

  • Its junction with Manchester New Road, for a distance of 25 metres in an easterly direction.
  • Its junction with Lever Walk, for a distance of 22 metres in an easterly direction.
  • Its junction with High Barn Road and Uplands, for a distance of 30 metres in a westerly direction. 

Alternative routes: not applicable.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: to repair a leaking water main in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 21 March 2022 – Monday 11 April 2022.
Restriction and location: prohibition of vehicles from going along Peel Lane from its junction with Furness Avenue/Cedar Avenue for a distance of 70 metres in a north westerly direction.
Alternative routes:

  • the alternative route for vehicles travelling in a northerly direction is Peel Lane, Claybank Street and Furness Avenue.
  • the alternative route for vehicles travelling in a southerly direction is Furness Avenue, Claybank Street and Peel Lane.

Area: Heywood
Reason: to fix a defective reinstatement in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 9am – 4pm, Tuesday 12 April 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Chapel Street, from its junction with Rochdale Road to its junction with York Street.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is Rochdale Road and York Street.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.


Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Pennines
Reason: to repair electricity mains.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 5 April 2022 – Saturday 9 April 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Watling Street and Harwood Street, from their junctions with New Road and Main Street.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is New Road, Finance Street, James Street and Starring Way.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Pennines
Reason: to maintain the level crossing signals and telecommunication systems.

Expected start and finish: 12.01am – 8.15am, Sunday 10 April 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Smithy Bridge Road, from a point 50 metres north-west of the level crossing to a point 50 metres south east of the level crossing.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is Smithy Bridge Road, Milnrow Road (Littleborough), Wildhouse Lane, Kiln Lane, Bridge Street, Rochdale Road, Milnrow Road (Rochdale), Albert Royds Street, Halifax Road and Smithy Bridge Road.

Area: Pennines
Reason: to provide access for heavy equipment and machinery.

Expected start and finish: 8am – 6pm each day, Tuesday 19 April 2022 – Friday 29 April 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary prohibition of waiting at any time along:

  • Both sides of Riverstone Street, for its entire length.
  • Both sides of Railway Street, from its junction with Peel Street for the remainder of its length in a south westerly direction.

Alternative routes: not applicable.
