Easter egg donations being collected at Middleton's Funeral Services

Date published: 30 March 2022

Middleton’s Funeral Services are collecting Easter egg donations for local children.

Staff at the funeral service are collecting Easter eggs with the aim of donating them to schools and children’s care homes across Middleton so that no-one is without a chocolate egg.

To date, around 200 Easter eggs have been donated by local businesses, friends and family.

Ian Leary, executive funeral director, said: “We are currently gathering Easter eggs for donation and anyone is welcome to drop off some so that we can donate them to children in the area. We deeply value the traditional family unit, so we will work to help families in any way we can, large or small.

“We are aiming to donate the Easter eggs to schools and children’s care homes, so that we might be able to help any children enjoy a better Easter. We remember the feeling that Easter egg hunts brought to us as children, so it only seems fit that we might help others have that feeling too, these memories are important to young children and Easter is an exciting time for them.

“We think it important to try to make as much positive impact on our local communities as we can. We are still to decide on any specific location/charity to donate them to, and how many places we are going to donate to, as it depends on the number of eggs we are able to gather. One we have in mind is Furness Road Children’s Home.

“All donations will be local to Middleton and for children, we are currently liaising with local children's care homes and education centres.”

Anyone wishing to drop off donations can bring them to the Middleton office on Old Hall Street, Middleton, M24 1AN.
