From Beyoncé to Balderstone: award-winning chef to the stars treats Kirkholt Lunch Club-Club to delicious meal

Date published: 30 March 2022

An award-winning chef who has catered for Beyoncé and Robert De Niro recently treated members of the Kirkholt Lunch Club-Club to a stellar meal.

The HMR Circle lunch clubs’ regular chef Ken Richards was unavailable that week due to an operation, with his usual covering chef Noel also unavailable.

It was arranged for chef Dave Gale to cover service – but it was only after the meal that members of the lunch clubs' club discovered Dave’s credentials as a former Manchester Chef of the Year, a former head chef at the Hilton Manchester as well as head chef at restaurants around the world, including London, Las Vegas and New York.

During his time in America, Dave catered for popstar Beyoncé Knowles’ birthday party with husband Jay-Z as well as being personal chef to actor Robert De Niro.

Dave treated the members of the Kirkholt Lunch Club-Club to a fabulous deconstructed chicken curry with saffron rice pilaf, Bombay potatoes and samosa, followed by a mango mousse fool.

He also gave the volunteers some great hints and tips for around the kitchen.

Mark Wynn, chairman of HMR Circle, said: “A huge thank you to chef Dave for coming along and help us out, and an equally big thank you to Noel for sorting out cover.”
