24-hour ‘artathon’ to raise money for Maggie’s Oldham

Date published: 24 March 2022

A Rochdale Community Interest Company is delivering a 24-hour online live stream of arts and crafts on Friday (25 March) to raise money for a local cancer charity.

From 10am tomorrow, Creative Health Rochdale’s director Erica Matthews, will be live on Facebook for a full 24-hours to raise money for Maggie’s Oldham, which supports people affected by a cancer diagnosis in Oldham and Rochdale.

Erica said: “Creative Health is proud to have been working with Maggie's for three and a half years, delivering weekly creative art sessions and now we would like to give something back. I’ve lost several loved ones to cancer and also want to be able to support the charity as a thanks.

“I love – but am terrible at – baking and couldn't run a marathon, but I can do arts and crafts so I thought why not try and do something different to support an amazing organisation.

“We know it is going to be really hard, but we are convinced with lots of support we can reach the target for a really worthwhile local service.”

Creative Health Rochdale is a local not-for-profit organisation which runs informal art sessions with the aim of reducing isolation in older people.

Maggie's supports people by offering advice on health, benefits and offering a range of holistic and pastoral services via the Sir Normal Stoller building situated at the Royal Oldham Hospital.

The stream can be watched via the Creative Health Rochdale Facebook page and donations can be made via JustGiving.
