Elderly pedestrian in "serious condition" after collision

An elderly woman in is hospital in a serious condition after a collision in Heywood on Thursday afternoon (17 March).

Emergency services were called to Rochdale Road East between Green Lane and Barley Hall Street at around 2pm to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian.

The woman – in her 80s – was taken to hospital in a serious condition by road ambulance and the road remained closed in both directions for several hours.

A spokesperson for NWAS confirmed an An ambulance, response vehicle, an advanced paramedic and a helimed crew were all in attendance.

Greater Manchester Police and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have also been contacted for comment.
