Donations from Rochdale Ukrainian Donations Hub taken to Poland-Ukraine border

Date published: 18 March 2022

Five vans fully loaded with donations for Ukrainian refugees have left for the border of Poland and Ukraine.

People across Rochdale have been donating goods to help those fleeing the conflict.

These donations have been co-ordinated by Gemma Finbarr-Smith, of Singleton’s Dance Academy, a drop-off point for the Focus 4 Hope charity.

Bury company Miller’s Vanguard provided the vans and drivers, who have travelled the full 1,600 miles to their destination. The convoy left on Monday (14 March), the streets lined with well-wishers waving Ukrainian flags.

The goods have since arrived, with Miller's Vanguard now on the return home.
