Beech House pupils visit Lockerbie Manor

Date published: 09 March 2022

Pupils at Beech House School in Rochdale recently enjoyed a week at Lockerbie Manor in Scotland.

The students travelled to the adventure spot in Dumfries and Galloway and enjoyed a wide range of activities, from fencing to zip lining.

Students were able to enjoy the fresh air on offer in the Scottish hills, which principal Kevin Sartain felt will have done wonders for them after spending much of the last two years indoors due to the pandemic.

He said: “Our students bravely had taken part in all of the activities, including new and challenging experiences, many have faced their personal fears - whether that's heights, mud or freezing cold water.

“They made a real effort to challenge themselves both mentally and physically through the variety of activities such as raft building, high ropes, obstacle coursing, canoeing, fencing, zip lining, kayaking and many more.

“The friendships they have developed on this journey, and the new talents they have discovered will hopefully encourage them to continue being courageous and successful in all aspects of their lives.

“So even though they didn't put the heating on for the canoe lake, the bright winter sunshine and the crisp Scottish air has made the week an unforgettable experience for all of us - even though we didn't get to play in any snow!"
