Whitworth siblings selling packs of sunflower seeds to raise money for Ukrainian family

Date published: 10 March 2022

A Whitworth family is raising money for a Ukrainian family by selling packs of sunflower seeds.

Kimberley Ashworth, alongside her children Eden and Noah, are aiming to raise £500 for family friend Hanna and her two sons, who live in Dnipro.

The Eastern European country was last month invaded by neighbours Russia, with approximately 13,000 people having lost their lives thus far, while 2.1 million people have been left homeless.

Eden and Noah were keen to raise money for Hanna and her children, so have bought envelopes, sunflower seeds and stickers, which they are decorating before selling for £1 each.

Kimberley said: "We’ve not told Eden and Noah all the details but they know that Hanna and her boys are safe and we will keep sending them money."

Sunflowers were a natural choice given that they are the national flower of Ukraine, and people are clearly keen to help, as they have already raised £300 of their £500 target.

Eden and Noah have also promised to plant a sunflower for every donation and you can donate to their fundraising effort via PayPal.
