Brevity Tattoo is hosting a flash weekend for Ukrainian troops
A Drake Street tattoo artist is set to host a flash weekend (Friday 11 to Sunday 13 March) to raise money for Ukrainian troops.
Jonah Madison, of Brevity Tattoo in Rochdale, is raising money for the Return Alive Charitable Foundation in Ukraine, which aims to support troops and their families amidst the ongoing war with Russia.
The tattoo artist was inspired by a friend on Instagram who lives in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, as he posted shocking videos which emphasise the extent of the damage being done.
Jonah said: “Watching the events unfold is chilling, I’m not a soldier but I can help through my art.
“I came across this charity through seeing Sergo Mazur, a tattooist in Kyiv. I spoke to him about the idea for the flash weekend and discussed what kind of designs [I could do].
"I’ve managed to get stock donated through Saviour Tattoo Supplies so 100% of the money goes to the Return Alive Foundation."
Jonah has planned a number of designs affiliated with Ukraine, including the flag, coat of arms and birds, such as the nightingale - which is the national bird of Ukraine, and the falcon - which represents the Ukrainian air force.
Designs will be available from between £30-£150 and anyone can donate or book in for tattoo on the Brevity Tattoo Facebook page, or by email at brevitytattoo@gmail.com
