Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To provide a safe and convenient place to park away team supporter coaches on match days at the Crown Oil Arena. To safely vacate supporters away from the stadium.

This order will be implemented on match and event days at the Crown Oil Arena, as required. The times of the road closures and restrictions will vary, however, appropriate signage will be put in place.

Restriction and location:

  • Temporary one-way working on Ings Lane in a northerly direction along the westerly carriageway, from its junction with Edenfield Road to its junction with Rooley Moor Road. Vehicles won't be able to travel along Ings Lane in a southerly direction from its junction with Rooley Moor Road to its junction with Edenfield Road.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning right from Lisbon Street onto Ings Lane.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning right from Great Flatt onto Ings Lane.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning left from Innes Close onto Ings Lane.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning right from Cutgate Road onto Ings Lane.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from travelling along Phoenix Street, from its junction with the easterly side of Ings Lane for a distance of 10 metres in an easterly direction.
  • Temporarily prohibit vehicles from waiting at any time on Ings Lane, both sides from its junction with Rooley Moor Road to its junction with Edenfield Road.

Alternative route:

  • The alternative route for vehicles along Phoenix Street is Churchill Street and Rooley Moor Road.
  • The alternative route for vehicles along Ings Lane (southbound) is Ings lane (northbound), Caldershaw Road and Edenfield Road (A680).

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 November 2021 – Tuesday 23 August 2022.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles, from a point 305 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 330 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles and pedestrians from a point 485 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 364 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary suspension of parking at any time along Dell Road from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 297 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be Market Street, Shawclough Road and Dell Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to allow the safe repair of a collapsed retaining wall.

Expected start and finish: Monday 14 February 2022 – Monday 14 March 2022.
Restriction and location: prohibition of vehicles from waiting at any time in the limited parking bays on the south side of Nelson Street, 9 metres west of its junction with Church Lane for a distance of 56 metres in a westerly direction.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to install a water main in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 28 March 2022 – Sunday 3 April 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Toad Lane, from its junction with Howard Street to a point 20 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative routes:

  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling south will be Howard Street, Whitehall Street, Hope Street, Lower Falinge and Toad Lane.
  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling north will be Lower Falinge, Red Cross Street and Howard Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to inspect a waste water manhole chamber in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 3am – 9.30am, Sunday 3 April 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary one-way working along Drake Street, from a point 5 metres south of its junction with South Parade for a distance of 20 metres in a southerly direction. Northbound vehicles won't be affected.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be South Parade, Newgate, St Mary's Gate, John Street, Molesworth Street, Milnrow Road and Drake Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to reset a water fire hydrant chamber and valve lid in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Saturday 21 May 2022 – Sunday 22 May 2022.
Restriction and location: prohibition of right or left turns from Albert Royds Street into Roch Street.
Alternative routes:

  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling in a north westerly direction on Albert Royds Street into Roch Street will be Albert Royds Street, Halifax Road and Cook Street.
  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling in a south westerly direction on Albert Royds Street into Roch Street will be Albert Royds Street, Reservoir Street, Belfield Road, Entwisle Road, Halifax Road and Cook Street.

Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: to allow the installation of signage and lighting on the Railway Bridge.

Expected start and finish: 6am – 6pm each day on Saturday 12 March 2022 and Sunday 13 March 2022.
Restriction and location: to prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Joshua Lane, from its junction with Oak Street for a distance of 38 metres in an easterly direction.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be Joshua Lane, Lees Street, Grimshaw Lane (B6189), Townley Street (B6189), Oldham Road (A669) and Mills Hill Road.

Area: Middleton
Reason: to allow the installation of signage and lighting on the Railway Bridge.

Expected start and finish: 6am – 6pm each day on Saturday 19 March 2022 and Sunday 20 March 2022.
Restriction and location: to prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Baytree Lane, from its junction with Fern Close for a distance of 95 metres in a south easterly direction.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles will be Baytree Lane, Oldham Road (A669) and Mills Hill Road.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

There are no roadworks currently planned for this area.


Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Pennines
Reason: to facilitate the safe inspection of the railway bridge.

Expected start and finish: 9pm, Thursday 10 March 2022 – 5am, Friday 11 March 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Church Street, from its junction with Canal Street to its junction with Todmorden Road.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is Church Street, Featherstall Road, New Road, Smithy Bridge Road, Lake Bank, Hollingworth Road, Canal Street.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Pennines
Reason: to allow the safe maintenance to the level crossing signals and telecommunication systems.

Expected start and finish: 11pm, Saturday 19 March 2022 – 5am, Sunday 20 March 2022.
Restriction and location: prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Smithy Bridge Road, from a point 50 metres north-west of the level crossing to a point 50 metres south-east of the level crossing.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is Smithy Bridge Road, Milnrow Road (Littleborough), Wildhouse Lane, Kiln Lane, Bridge Street, Rochdale Road, Milnrow Road (Rochdale), Albert Royds Street, Halifax Road (A58) and Smithy Bridge Road.
