Late businessman Peter Cordwell remembered with charity ball for would-be 50th birthday

A ball in Manchester has sold out its tickets, as it remembers a Rochdale businessman and raises money for charity.

Hard Hats for Charity 2022 will take place at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester on Saturday 23 April, to celebrate what would have been Peter Cordwell’s 50th birthday, while also raising money for Rochdale charity Jolly Josh.

Peter, who was also known as ‘Creamy’, sadly died aged 48 after an incident on his farm following reports of a burglary, with his family still awaiting a trial date.

The well-known father-of-three had given local charity Jolly Josh 10 years’ worth of free rent at his Ensor Mill site in 2019.

The charity was started in 2017 by Carole and James Kelly and hosts stay-and-play sessions for children with special needs and disabilities.

Over £60,000 was raised for the charity following Peter’s death with his sister Alison McGuigan continuing to support Jolly Josh.

The event will feature a three-course meal, raffle and charity auction. Peter’s influence and popularity was clear to see, as tickets sold out completely in less than three days.

More details about Jolly Josh can be found on their website at www.jollyjosh.co.uk
