Vaccination clinics for 12-17-year-olds

Date published: 23 February 2022

Young people in Rochdale aged between 12-17 can take advantage of the half-term break by getting their Covid-19 vaccination on their days off.

A number of clinics across the borough, including Rochdale Infirmary, Number One Riverside and Middleton Health Centre will be taking walk-ins over the half-term, to administer either first, second or third doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

As of 13 February, figures show that 48.2% of 12–15-year-olds in Greater Manchester have had their first jab.

For those aged 16 and 17, some 61.8% have received their first dose and 18.6% had now had their second.

Greater Manchester Interim Director of Nursing Anita Rolfe said: “During half-term, students who have missed the opportunity to get jabbed at school can now do so at one of the clinics.

“Getting vaccinated helps keep young people in school and prevents further disruption to their social and family life. It also helps reduce transmission of the virus to the wider community.”

People aged 12-17 are only eligible for a second jab if it has been 12+ weeks since their first, while those aged 18+ (including within 3 months of turning 18) need to wait at least 8 weeks after their first jab.

Booster jabs are available for people aged over 16 at 3+ months (91 days) after their second dose.
