House fire in Smallbridge

A woman has been taken to hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation following a house fire in Smallbridge on Saturday morning (19 February).
Firefighters from Rochdale, Heywood, Littleborough, Chadderton, Hollins and Whitefield quickly attended the scene on Wesley Close where they found the two-storey property ablaze.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 8am on Saturday, 19th February, we received reports of a fire at a mid-terraced house on Wesley Close, Rochdale.
“Six fire engines from Rochdale, Heywood, Littleborough, Chadderton, Hollins and Whitefield fire stations were quickly at the scene, where they found the two-storey property well alight.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire in sectors using a hose reel and an aerial platform, before damping down and checking neighbouring properties to ensure the safety of the area. One casualty suffering from smoke inhalation was taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service.
“Fire crews were in attendance for several hours.”
Greater Manchester Police has also been contacted for comment.
