Uninsured driver charged with range of offences after failing to stop in Heywood

Date published: 08 February 2022

A driver has been charged after being arrested with a number of offences in Heywood early this morning.

Greater Manchester Police Traffic confirmed on Twitter that the driver would appear in court this morning (Tuesday 8 February) after being charged with disqualified driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance and driving without due care and attention.

The driver attempted to flee the police but was quickly detained and was remanded to appear in court.

GMP’s post read: “This vehicle failed to stop for #XT48 in @GMPHeywood. Driver gave it legs but was swiftly detained. Driver arrested for disqualified driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance and driving without due care and attention. Charged and remanded for court in the morning!”

Driving without a licence in the UK can land you between three and six penalty points as well as a fine of up to £1,000.

However, that fine is unlimited if the driver is not insured, in which case a driving ban can also be enforced.
