Maqio Toys raised over £500 on Jeans for Genes Day
Middleton-based business Maqio Toys held its first fundraising event on Friday (17 September), when employees were asked to wear denim for ‘Jeans for Genes Day’.
Aiming to raise awareness of the daily challenges faced by those living with a genetic disorder, the Jeans for Genes campaign raises money to fund projects that make a tangible difference to the lives of those affected.
Maqio Toys - one of the top 50 fastest growing companies in the north west - raised a total of £508 on the day.
“We chose Jeans for Genes Day as it is a fantastic cause raising awareness and helping families affected by genetic disorders with support, equipment, respite and events,” said a representative of Maqio Toys.
“We communicated with everyone to wear jeans for the day, and we are really proud the entire workforce turned up in jeans to support the event."
“We had a tuck shop/bake sale that the employees loved," they continued, "including homemade rice crispy treats, cupcakes, muffins, and blue lemonade. We also hosted a table tennis tournament.
“As an online toy store, we want to help enrich the lives of as many children as possible with fun and joy. Raising funds and awareness for this amazing charity means a lot to us.”
The proceeds of the tuck shop sale and table tennis entry fees both contributed to the fundraising, and customers also got involved by generously donating.
“As this is our first fundraiser, we are very happy with the amount raised and hope to increase this in the future,” finished the representative.
If you would like to contribute to the Jeans for Genes campaign, Maqio Toys is still accepting donations online via JustGiving.
