Cowm 5k raises £250 for heart and lung transplant charity

Date published: 08 August 2021

107 runners took part in the second Cowm Reservoir 5k race on Tuesday (3 August).

Organised by local running group ‘Whit’th Whippets’, the fully marshalled two-lap run around the Whitworth reservoir set off at 7pm from the Cock and Magpie pub.

With an entry fee of £4 for club runners and £6 for non-club runners, money raised from the event went to the chosen charity 'New Start - the Wythenshawe Hospital Transplant Fund'.

Among its many projects, the charity raises money for vital equipment and helps support heart and lung transplant recipients who participate in sporting competitions such as the European Heart and Lung Games, and the British and World Transplant Games.

On Thursday (5 August), Whit’th Whippets presented charity representative Bill Noble with a cheque for £250 to go to the New Start Wythenshawe Hospital Transplant fund.
