Whit'th Whippets present Bill Noble from 'New Start - the Wythenshawe Hospital Transplant Fund' charity with a £250 cheque
107 runners took part in the second Cowm Reservoir 5k race on Tuesday (3 August).
Organised by local running group ‘Whit’th Whippets’, the fully marshalled two-lap run around the Whitworth reservoir set off at 7pm from the Cock and Magpie pub.
With an entry fee of £4 for club runners and £6 for non-club runners, money raised from the event went to the chosen charity 'New Start - the Wythenshawe Hospital Transplant Fund'.
Among its many projects, the charity raises money for vital equipment and helps support heart and lung transplant recipients who participate in sporting competitions such as the European Heart and Lung Games, and the British and World Transplant Games.
On Thursday (5 August), Whit’th Whippets presented charity representative Bill Noble with a cheque for £250 to go to the New Start Wythenshawe Hospital Transplant fund.
The overall winner of the Cowm 5k was Michael Mannings from Oldham and Royton Harriers, who also won the last race in June. He finished the two laps in a time of 16 minutes and 3 seconds.
The first female, coming in at 19th place overall, was Joanne Horan from Queensbury RC with a time of 19 minutes and 57 seconds.
The prizes were presented by Matt Murray from MetCon Gym in Whitworth.
